In Mortality, a total of 827 epidemic events are known so far. Mortality (Latin mortalitas), or mortality rate are terms from demography. They refer to the number of deaths in relation to the total number of individuals or - in the case of the specific mortality rate - in relation to the number in the population concerned, and always in a specific period of time. In epidemiology, (disease-specific) mortality is the ratio of the number of individuals who died of a disease in a population in a period of time to the number of individuals in the population.
